Introduction

This text file documents the changes made to the German version of
the opening classification (ecocodes7.txt) that is distributed with
the Arena Chess Program created by Martin Blume. This textfile is
under constant update as theory evolves. The opening classification
understands transpositions.

Translation

The current version of the file (in this case 1.15 created
18/06/2004), can be used as a starting point for translation
into other languages (but I would prefer that you use the English
version, ecocodes9.txt, as I have more control over it).
From then on all subsequent changes made can be copied/implemented
by using this file in the future. Just overwrite the whole
sections of ECO codes listed in the 'Version Updates' under
'Detailed Opening Additions' below from this version of
ecocodes7.txt, implement any of the 'Other changes' listed (such
as capitalisation) and any 'Deletions' or 'Insertions', then translate.
If you have translated a previous version of ecocodes7.txt, start
with all updates for versions later than your own. Don't forget to
update the version number (at the top of ecocodes7.txt) to the
current version after you have finished. You must also remember to
save your file as ecocodesX.txt, where 'X' is the language number
used by Arena. These numbers are available on the Arena website
(http://www.playwitharena.com). In this way we all sing the same
song (but in different languages).

Help Required

If you Would like to help by translating the openings classification
into another language, you may wish to create a file for your
language and submit it. The languages currently being updated are
listed below.

English (ecocodes9.txt) by Christopher Conkie (Scotland)
German (ecocodes7.txt) by Christopher Conkie (Scotland)
French (ecocodes12.txt) by Christopher Conkie (Scotland)
Spanish (ecocodes10.txt) by Agustn Gomila (Argentina)
Catalan (ecocodes3.txt) by Harold Roig (Catalonia)

1.14 - 08/06/2004 - First Release

Since this is the first version there are no corrective duties to
perform (yet), but no doubt, there will be in the future.

As German is not my native language there may be a few grammatical
and syntax errors in early versions. Every attempt is made to reference
openings with their correct names, but, there is no substitute for input
and corrections offered by native speakers. All corrections, errata and
ammendments are gratefully accepted, in the forum, or at the email address
at the bottom of this file.

This first version was translated with help from the following
